How to use a pulse oximeter

Other than heart rate and SpO2, what else can pulse oximeters measure?

Pulse oximeters can be used to measure many different clinically important values. Some (but not all) pulse oximeters can measure the following:

  • Respiratory rate
  • Perfusion
  • Carboxyhemoglobin
  • Methemoglobin
  • Hemoglobin concentration
  • Pulsatility variation
