About The OCC Project
OpenCriticalCare.org (beta) was launched in August 2020 as a repository for reliable, open-access critical care learning tools with relevance to resource-variable settings. In response to COVID-19, we have built an open-access Resource Library of critical care educational resources for medical educators and learners as well as a COVID19 Guidelines Dashboard, and the Oxygen Calculator. Our resource library includes curated and original content that can be used for training at various levels and multiple healthcare cadres, and are suited for independent learning and as well as integration into institutional training programs and curricula.
In January 2021, we expanded our collaboration to include COVIDprotocols.org in partnership with teams from Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Partners In Health. You can read about the COVIDprotocols.org team here.
In 2023, OCC has begun to transition from urgent content creation and dissemination for COVID19 and is now focusing on the creation of novel tools and content to advance education with an emphasis on learners and educators in resource-variable and resource-denied settings.

OpenCriticalCare.org is a collaborative educational effort funded by USAID-STAR (Sustaining Technical and Analytic Resources Project) and led by the University of California San Francisco Center for Health Equity in Surgery and Anesthesia. The project was possible with collaboration from the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists, the UCSF Institute for Global Health Sciences, OPENPediatrics, FHI 360 EpiC Program, Jhpiego RISE, and Palladium.
